Mia Farrow – Testifies In Case For Blood Diamonds
Mia Farrow has now entered the case against Charles Taylor presenting a blood diamond to supermodel Naomi Campbell during her stay in Africa. When Campbell, who took the stand last week, made her appearance, she said that she wasn’t sure who presented her with the “dirty looking stons” she received, and that she hadn’t known of Charles Taylor at the time. There has been speculation that Ms. Campbell was lying, however, as she is said to have stated that she is worried for the sake of her friends and family.
Charles Taylor, former president of Liberia, has been charged with several counts of crimes against humanity having to do the with civil war that occurred in Sierra Leone. He pleads not guilty in having given Naomi Campbell a diamond. The significance of the diamond is that it would prove he had been funding war crimes during his time as Liberian president.
However, now Farrow has taken the stand, and stated that the morning after Campbell received the “stones,” she discussed the incident with Farrow and Carole White, who at the time was acting as her agent. While Farrow’s testimony may be useful in convicting Charles, as of right now has too many discrepancies with Campbell’s and will have to be further investigated.
