Gogglebox is back on our screens for season 17 with more Friday night laughs about the latest TV shows.

Since the shows growing popularity after first launching in 2013, a number of the contestants have become fan-favourites.

And so, the Gogglebox stars have built up quite the social media following, with the likes of duo Jenny and Lee obtaining just under 400,000 followers.

The 2021 cast includes a number of familiar faces who can make a lot of money without the show, from their social media alone.

A new study by EST1897 ranked the Gogglebox stars on their Instagram follower count and potential earnings per post to reveal who makes the most money.

Jenny and Lee have the highest earning potential

Popular pair from Hull Jenny and Lee share an Instagram account and top the list with an impressive 369k followers.
They are often seen sharing photographs together whilst filming, lockdown antics, and funny moments from the show.

The fan favourites could command annual earnings of over £76k a year making them the highest earning account.

The stars have continued to grow on the platform, gaining 136k followers since the start of the last series and increasing their earning potential by 58% (28k).

Siblings Pete and Sophie joined the show in 2017, and could be the highest-earning Gogglebox family.

Their witty jokes have won over numerous fans and the pair now have a combined following of 521k on the platform.

Together, they could charge over £108k a year.

The siblings have continued to grow on the platform, gaining 195k followers since the start of the last series and increasing their earning potential by 61% (£41k).

Fellow siblings Izzi and Ellie could be earning salaries from their Instagram accounts, with Izzi commanding £39k and Ellie £43k.

Tom Malone could make almost £200,000 a year

Last week, Googlebox star Tom Malone has confirmed he will no longer appear on the show, announcing his departure a day before the new series.

Tom took to Instagram to share the news, and said: “So after six years it’s finally time to put down the remote and say goodbye to Gogglebox.

“I’ve loved every minute and I’m eternally grateful to Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for allowing me to be a part of the show. But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.”

But, the Gogglebox star certainly won’t be missing out on the cash as his social media following continues to grow.

According to the study by EST1897, Tom could be pulling in £54k on Instagram where he has 262k followers..

The dancer also has whopping 704k followers on TikTok earning him up to £3,400 per post taking which could amount to £122k per year.

Gogglebox series 17, episode two will air tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
